This afforestation initiative will see poorly managed savannah forest game reserves across Nigerian Inland regions rehabilitated to the optimal vegetation density to achieve enhanced biodiversity and high carbon sink potential. Yankari Game reserve (Figure 6) will be first to receive the afforestation initiatives and this will be done in collaboration with Nigerian Ministry of Environment through Federal Department of Forestry, State Government, international agencies and other stakeholders. The Yankari Game Reserve Afforestation Initiative is set to commence from first Quoter 2024.
